Hungarian pianist Adam Balogh made his orchestral debut at the age of 13 with the Budapest Festival Orschestra under the baton of Ivan Fischer. Since then, he has performed with many important orchestras in his home country, including the National Philharmonic, Concerto Budapest, the Pannon Philharmonic, the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra. He gained further recoginition recently by winning the second prize of the Bartók World Competition, and the fifth prize of the Sydney International Piano Competition. He is also a prizewinner of Honens International Piano Competition.
He is a recipient of the Junior Prima Award and the Cziffra Festival’s Talent Award, as well as the Junior Tüke Award, given to outstanding young citizens of his home city, Pécs. He previously received support in form of scholarships from MOL, the Hungarian Ministry of Human Resources and he has been awarded the Annie Fischer Scholarship three times. He is one of the young musicians supported by the Theo and Petra Lieven Foundation.
In the recent years, he was an active performer in important concert halls around Hungary as well as appearing internationally in Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Croatia, the Netherlands, Kosovo, Slovakia, Vietnam, and the United States. He often appears in national papers and on the national radio, where he has had interviews and live recitals broadcasted.
He is a first prize winner of most national piano competitions, and a laurate at the Takacs Jenő (Graz), the Chopin (Budapest), the Pianotalents (Milan), the Young Virtuoso (Zagreb), The Hague (Hague), and the NYCA Worldwide Debut (New York) international competitions. He is also a special prize winner of the 1st Cliburn Junior Competition.
Attending festivals like PianoTexas (Fort Worth), IKIF (New York), PYPA (Philadelphia), Tel Hai (Israel), Chautauqua (New York), and participating in masterclasses, he worked with Dimitry Bashkirov, Zoltán Kocsis, Roger Muraro, Yohaved Kaplinsky, Stanislav Loudenitch, Ching-Yun Hu, Emanuel Krasovsky, Jerome Lowenthal, Douglas Humpherys, Dina Yoffe, Margarita Shevchenko, Alon Goldstein, Wojciech Switala, Mauritio Moretti, Tamás Vásáry, Sandra Shapiro, Ungár Tamás, Lylia Zilberstein, Davide Cabassi and Alexander Moutouzkine, among others.
After graduating from the exceptional talents’ class of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, in 2018 he completed his Bachelor degree at the school with Attila Némethy and Gábor Eckhardt. Currently he is persuing a Master degree in Hannover with Arie Vardi, as well as in Budapest with Dénes Várjon and Gábor Farkas.
